What is MCP?

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external data sources and tools. Think of it as a universal plugin system for AI — instead of copying and pasting data into a chat window, your AI tool fetches it directly and in real time.

Without MCP, if you want your AI to reason about specific data, you have to paste it in manually every time. With MCP, you configure a server once and your AI can query it whenever it needs to.

Bitsmatic is an MCP server. Your licence key authorises your AI tool to connect to it. The AI asks the server for data, the server checks your licence, and returns structured results — all invisibly, mid-conversation.

Common questions

What exactly do I get when I buy a licence?

After checkout, Polar.sh sends you an email with a link to your customer portal. Your licence key is there — copy it and paste it into your AI tool's MCP config. It authenticates every request your AI makes to the Bitsmatic server.

How do I use the key in Claude Desktop?

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config. Add the Bitsmatic server block with your key in the env section. See the Integrations tab for a copy-paste config.

What counts as a query?

Each time your AI calls a tool on the Bitsmatic server counts as one query. The number of parameters and data points returned per query depends on your tier.

Can I upgrade from Free to Pro later?

Yes. Purchase a Pro licence — you'll get a new key in your Polar customer portal. Replace the key in your MCP config file and you're on Pro immediately.

Who processes my payment?

Payments are handled by Polar.sh, a regulated merchant of record. Bitsmatic.com never stores your card details.
